Riverside swimming pool

Nelson has a good range of facilities and training groups for each of the three triathlon disciplines.

The Nelson Triathlon Club website is www.nelsontriclub.co.nz

Adventure racing is also very popular and Nelson is home to the Rollo's 24 hour adventure race.

Nelson has four public swimming pools suitable for swim training, two of them are just a few kilometres from the city centre. They have times set aside each day for swim training, and there is a regular tri swim training group with a swim coach present.

Sea swims are held in Nelson Harbor at 7:30 each Thursday evening during the summer. There are two distances, short course 200-400m and long course 800-1200m.

The parks and streets in Nelson are great for on road or trail running. The mountain bike map that Kiwivelo provides to all riders will also be useful for runners. The "Centre of New Zealand" and Walter's Bluff, Maitai Valley Walkway, Grampians and Railway Reserve are all tracks that are close to the city centre and popular with both recreational and serious runners.

Adventure Racing

Each year in April Nelson hosts the Rollo's Nelson Adventure Race. It is a 24 adventure race with around 20 teams of 4 from all around New Zealand taking part.

The course details are usually made available shortly before the start of the race which requires the teams to trek, mountain bike, and kayak around a course somewhere in the Nelson area
