What if I just want to come for a holiday, no cycling at all?

Excellent idea! Nelson is a great holiday destination with a lot to see and do. We can show you around and help you organise and book trips and activities.

Do I have to bring my own bike?

Not if you don't want to. There are several places in Nelson where you can rent a bike or buy one with an agreed buy back price. Let us know if you want to do this and we will help you to get it organised.

When can I come?

Kiwivelo is open in the NZ summer, that is from October until May. Sometimes people want to stay after May. This is no problem, just let us know.

When must I book by?

You must book three weeks in advance. The homestay normally takes this much time to organise properly. If you book late and we can't organise a homestay in time, you can stay in a hotel or hostel (at your own expense) until we find you a homestay.

Can I extend my stay?

Sometimes homestay families are booked to take someone else soon after you leave, so it can be a problem. If you give us enough notice we can look for another place for you (or the person after you) to go to.

Is there a minimum stay?

We normally recommend a minimum stay of two weeks, the amount of work required setting up the homestay mean that is isn't economical to offer the packages for shorter periods. For that reason we reserve the right to charge a registration fee for stays under two weeks, or to leave out one-off items, such as the Kiwivelo riding jersey.

Do I need a Visa?

We normally recommend a minimum stay of two weeks, the amount of work required setting up the homestay mean that is isn't economical to offer the packages for shorter periods. For that reason we reserve the right to charge a registration fee for stays under two weeks, or to leave out one-off items, such as the Kiwivelo riding jersey.

Can I get a refund if I go home early?

Yes, we will refund you 50% of the "Basic Package" price for each whole week you don't stay.
